The Arcam box has swirls on all surfaces and some spots have the black color pealed off. Two batteries (GoldenPower 04-2017) are pre-installed in the remote. Granted, the remote is no looker and as it has been borrowed from the D33, so some of the buttons don’t do anything, but the simple act of supplying it has the Arcam at an advantage for anyone using it for more than one source.
All of the inputs can be controlled through an IR remote that will also give you transport control of a PC or Mac USB source via the HID (Human Interface Device) control. Perhaps suggests the Arcam irDAC-II USB could be better engineered to handle the problems of the Pi3b USB input as other people here report no issues using their USB DAC's with the Pi3b. It works absolutely fine with the Pi4b USB input though, sounds clear and alive. Another thing is I swear the irDAC-II sounds better the longer I leave it on.
