The Code of Maimonides (Mishneh Torah). Book 5, The Book of Holiness. Edited by Leon Nemoy; Translated by Louis I.

The Mishneh Torah is the magnum opus of Moses Maimonides, the renowned medieval philosopher. This remarkable text consolidates Jewish law into a systematic, comprehensive and accessible anthology, still consulted by rabbis and scholars today. This manuscript copy of the Mishneh Torah is one of the most sumptuous ever made. Moshe Ben Maimon, the Rambam, wrote the Mishneh Torah to serve as "a compilation of the entire Oral Law, including the ordinances, customs, and decrees that were enacted from the time of Moses, our teacher, until the completion of the Talmud," so that "a person will not need another text at all with regard to any Jewish law." The Concise volume provides a brief summary of each of the thousand chapters, so as to see more clearly the beautiful framework of Mishneh Torah. The Tables and Outlines volumes reflect the Mishneh Torah in tabular form, placed in subject alphabetic order. Item description "The English edition of the Mishneh Torah, translated by Rabbi Eliyahu Touger, is a free-flowing, yet scholarly, translation of the Mishneh Torah.
